My early work was completed from 1988 to 2001. During this time I exhibited in North End Gallery in Leonardtown, Maryland; Mainstreet Gallery in Prince Frederick, Maryland; and Annmarie Gardens in Solomons, Maryland. Although some of the work includes representational pieces, there is a common theme connecting these pieces with my current work. Almost all my early work contains a human potential/human condition subject matter. Isolated pieces such as the "pop art" vegetables are all organic in nature.

After a concentrated exploration of representational mask imagery, the logical progression for me was to move to a more abstract organic subject matter. After entering graduate school, I became interested in contemplative/meditative space - thus the human potential/human condition theme was continued using ceramic sculpture as a vehicle for manifestation. The early work had to be created to arrive into my current space with art.
